Why Should You Go to Mexico?

Out of all of the countries, I have traveled, Mexico has to be one of my favorites! The beautiful scenery, the incredible culture, and the fun things to do and see make it such a great country to explore. This huge country offers something for everyone and it is guaranteed that a visit to Mexico will be an enjoyable one!

Here are just a few of the reasons why every traveler needs to visit Mexico at least once in their lifetime!

  1. The Landscape

Mexico has some very diverse landscapes. In different areas of the country, you will experience very different scenery. But there is one thing that all of the different landscapes in Mexico have in common, and that is that they are all beautiful!

Mexico beach

Mexico is famous for beaches! Bordering both the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans there is a lot of beaches to explore! On the Caribbean side, it is easy to find a white sandy beach stretching for miles. Sometimes you can even find one with next to no other people around! One of my favourite things to do is watch the sunset at the beach, it is simply gorgeous!

Palenque waterfall

Mexico also has an interesting landscape of jungle and waterfalls. Some of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen were actually just outside of the city of Palenque. Robert Barrios is an amazing area of multiple waterfalls to explore, you could literally swim in several different waterfalls and natural pools, each with crystal clear turquoise water. Mishol Ha is also a very outstanding waterfall near Palenque! If you love chasing waterfalls, then one thing is for sure, you will love Mexico!

Agave field

One of my favourite landscapes in Mexico is actually the rolling hills and valleys filled with the agave plant. Agave is grown in many areas in Mexico and is the plant that is used to make Tequila! The Blue Agave is actually a blue cactus and seeing hills filled with them for as far as you can see is stunning. A trip to the town of Tequila to learn where the liquor Tequila actually came from was actually one of my Mexico highlights!

Guadalajara

Big cities, such as Mexico City and Guadalajara also showcase a very unique landscape. Old buildings, monuments, and streets filled with culture are just as picturesque as the natural landscapes that cover the less populated areas of Mexico.

  1. The Food

One of the biggest reasons every traveller needs to go to Mexico is to experience the food! You probably think you know what Mexican food is, but the westernized version of Mexican food that you often get in restaurants around the world is a modified version of the authentic stuff. And let me tell you, the authentic Mexican food that you actually get in Mexico is so much better!

El Pastor Tacos are my absolute favourite! They are pork tacos usually served in a soft tortilla with guacamole, a spicy sauce and sometimes even grilled pineapple. Authentic Mexican food is also normally very affordable costing only a dollar or less for a taco! But there are many different dishes to try in Mexico! If you love food, then Mexico is a place you simply have to visit!

  1. The People

The Mexican culture is so fun and friendly. Mexicans generally have a great sense of humour. We met many Mexicans along our travels who became our friends. Some don’t speak English but if you make an effort and try to speak a little bit of Spanish they will truly appreciate it. Many Mexicans love tourists and will be very happy to see you. Some might ask to take pictures with you or simply just want to practice their English with you.

Mexico, unfortunately, has a reputation of being unsafe. While you must be careful in Mexico (especially in certain areas), it is important to remember that bad things can happen anywhere in the world. Many Mexicans are very helpful and friendly people who will greet you with a warm smile! They are honestly some of the friendliest people I have ever met!

  1. The Parties and Festivals

Mexicans know how to party! In fact, many of their clubs don’t open until 2 am and stay open until the sun comes up! In places like Mexico City there always seems to be some sort of celebration or event on every single weekend!

If you are lucky enough to be in Mexico for one of their larger celebrations like Day Of The Dead then you will get to see exactly how interesting their festivals can be!

  1. Adventure

If you are a seeker of adventure, much like myself, then Mexico will definitely keep you busy!

Cenote

I went scuba diving in Cenotes in Tulum, which was one of the highlights of my trip. For those of you don’t already know, Cenotes are deep holes or cave systems in the ground commonly filled with fresh water. Scuba diving in them is much different than diving in the ocean and is an exhilarating and exciting experience.

Puerto Vallarta

Skydiving in Mexico is also very popular. Many of the tourist orientated skydive places are run by American standards and just as safe as any drop zone in the western world. Skydiving in Puerto Vallarta is especially popular as you land right on the beach!

Other adventure activities to keep you busy in Mexico is zip lining over the jungle, scuba diving in the ocean, parasailing, jet skiing, surfing, and hiking!

Overall, Mexico is such a diverse country that really offers unique experiences at every turn. I had a blast travelling there and I’m sure you will too!
