Day 1: Kuala Lumpur – Pangkor Island (B)

On your first day, depart from your Kuala Lumpur hotel for a 3.5-hour drive to Lumut by comfortable coach. On the way, pass by Malaysian kampongs (villages) and wooden houses that are raised above the ground on stilts with large verandahs where families can relax. Admire the banana palms, coconut trees, guava trees and durian trees surrounding the kampongs. From your window, youŒÍll also spot oil palm tree plantations in the midst of the lush landscape. Arrive in the coastal town of Lumut at noon and then travel to Pangkor Island by ferry.

Spend time exploring the island on your own. Feel free to walk or cycle around the island, measuring 3 square miles (8 square km). Pangkor is famous for its fine beaches. Visit Teluk Nipah, one of the most picturesque beaches on the island, and spot colorful corals and vibrant fish in the water.
