Snaefellsjokull, The Glacier and The National Park Tour with Cave Exploration
Visit Sní_fellsnes peninsula with its stunning nature beautifully located on the west side of Iceland. Its many recreational activities make it a paradise if you are seeking for relaxation. Explore the remarkably diverse Sní_fellsnes National Park including a descent into an 8000 year old lava cave.
A Jules Verne’s timeless classic Journey to the Centre of the Earth begins in Sní_fellsnes, so will our adventure. Sní_fellsnes is a peninsula on the west side of Iceland. It is a place of great historical importance and captivating landscapes. Black sand beaches, formidable cliffs, regal mountains, volcanic craters and Sní_fellsjí_kull glacier are just some of the attractions you will see during the trip.
On our way to the national park we’ll meet some of Iceland’s local wildlife at the beach, which is home to a seal colony and a variety of seabirds. Before entering the national park we’ll stop for a visit in the small village of Arnarstapi and the old fishing village Hellnar, where lunch can be purchased at a charming little cafí© by the seashore. After lunch we’ll enter the park and explore Vatnshellir cave, and 8000 year old lava tube with impressive stalactites and strange lava formations.
After caving we take in a few more sights, like the black pebble beach in Djí_palí_nssandur, Grundarfjí_ríÁur fishing village and the notorious Berserkjahraun lava fields, not to mention Kirkjufell which is probably Iceland’s most photographed mountain.
Sní_fellsnes is a region rich with geologic and historic significance, made all the more enjoyable when you have someone who knows the ins and outs of the area and has some great stories to share.
